The first residential and funerary occupation on Anavlochos goes back to the end of the Late Minoan IIIB period (Table 1) and follows the desertion of the Minoan site at Sissi (figs 1-2). The abandonment of the settlement and cemetery of Anavlochos coincides with the rise of the nearby city-states of Milatos and Dreros. Cultic spaces remained in use until the Classical period, however.
