Established in 1970, the international bronze congresses provide the leading forum for scholars in this field, attracting participants from all over the world.
In 2024, papers and posters on all aspects related to ancient bronzes will be welcome, regardless of chronological and geographical implications, from stylistic analysis to manufacturing techniques and diagnostics, from conservation/restoration issues to the enhancement and later histories of bronze artifacts.
In addition, the theme Bronzes in Context will offer a new perspective, inviting scholars from universities, museums, archaeological institutes and other institutions – not necessarily bronze specialists – to explore this specific approach. The 22nd International Bronze Congress will provide the opportunity to present recent or unpublished material from excavations, to shed new light on neglected finds and assemblages, to recontextualize objects in collections and museum storerooms, to trace provenance or biography, including archival and conservation research.
