La table ronde Exploring Reuse, quatrième volet du programme Destins d’objets, vise à approfondir l’étude des remplois d’objets et les effets matériels des dynamiques de sacralisation/désacralisation. En s’appuyant sur un ancrage archéologique solide et sur l’étendue chronologique des recherches menées par l’Institut, cette rencontre vise à interroger les pratiques de remploi dans une perspective diachronique. L’événement adoptera un format combinant courtes interventions et discussions collectives, favorisant les approches comparatives entre études de cas issues d’aires géographiques variées — de la Méditerranée orientale à l’Extrême-Orient — et couvrant un spectre temporel allant de l’Antiquité à l’époque contemporaine.
The symposium Exploring Reuse seeks to deepen the study of object reuse and to examine the material implications of processes of sacralization and desacralization. Grounded in a strong archaeological framework and in the broad chronological scope of the Institute’s research, this meeting aims to investigate practices of reuse from a diachronic perspective. The event – the forth meeting of the program Destins d’objets – will combine short presentations with collective discussions, encouraging comparative approaches between case studies drawn from a wide range of geographical areas — from the Eastern Mediterranean to East Asia — and spanning a temporal spectrum from Antiquity to the contemporary period.
