 ure will be held in English\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis lecture explores the musica
 l landscape of Smyrna in the early twentieth century\, focusing on the Gre
 ek estudiantinas as a central phenomenon of an urban cosmopolitanism that 
 developed within a milieu of multiple cultural references. Drawing on evid
 ence from historical recordings\, literature\, and the press\, it highligh
 ts a dynamic field in which musicians drew inspiration from the Spanish tr
 adition of estudiantinas and transformed it into a Greek-speaking soundsca
 pe code\, grounded in aesthetic intersections stretching from the Mediterr
 anean to the Balkans and Central Europe. Smyrna\, as a quintessential site
  of cultural transformation\, functioned as a hub of multiple circulations
 \, where Greek musicians actively contributed to shaping a global musical 
 network. The lecture proposes to view the estudiantinas as carriers of a p
 olymorphic artistic creation\, situated in one of the most emblematic loca
 les east of the Aegean\, shortly before the Catastrophe of 1922.\n\n&nbsp\

  φαινόμενο ενός αστικού κοσμοπολιτισμού
  που αναπτύχθηκε μέσα σε περιβάλλον πολλ
 απλών πολιτισμικών αναφορών. Μέσα από τε
 κμήρια της ιστορικής δισκογραφίας\, της 
 λογοτεχνίας και του Τύπου\, αναδεικνύετα
 ι ένα δυναμικό πεδίο\, όπου οι μουσικοί α
 ντλούν έμπνευση από την ισπανική παράδο
 ση των estudiantinas και τη μεταπλάθουν σε έναν
  ελληνοφωνικό ηχοτοπικό κώδικα\, βασισμέ
 νο σε αισθητικές διασταυρώσεις που εκτε
 ίνονται από τη Μεσόγειο έως τα Βαλκάνια 
 και την Κεντρική Ευρώπη. Η Σμύρνη\, ως κατ
 εξοχήν τόπος πολιτισμικών ανασχηματισμ
 ών\, λειτουργεί ως κόμβος πολλαπλών κυκλ
 οφοριών\, όπου οι Έλληνες μουσικοί συμμε
 τέχουν ενεργά στη διαμόρφωση ενός παγκό
 σμιου μουσικού δικτύου. Η διάλεξη προτεί
 νει να δούμε τις εστουδιαντίνες ως φορεί
 ς μιας πολυμορφικής καλλιτεχνικής δημιο
 υργίας\, σε έναν από τους πλέον εμβληματι
 κούς τόπους ανατολικά του Αιγαίου\, λίγο
