An Institute for Advanced Studies in Athens
Researcher mobility and support for research projects are pivotal to the EFA’s activities.
Avec son équipe de membres scientifiques et ses services d’appui à la recherche, l’EFA accueille chaque année et pour des séjours de différentes durées plusieurs chercheurs et enseignants-chercheurs, grâce à différents dispositifs.
L’École accueille également des étudiants en formation, et plus particulièrement des doctorants qui peuvent bénéficier de bourses de séjour et de séminaires spécialisés.
Membres scientifiques, boursiers doctorants et chercheurs en résidence forment une communauté scientifique internationale qui bénéficie du réseau de partenariats de l’École française d’Athènes, en Grèce, dans les Balkans et en Méditerranée orientale. L’EFA soutient ainsi le développement de projets de recherche internationaux qui placent l’excellence et le renouvellement des savoirs au cœur de leurs ambitions.
Afin d’amplifier ces dynamiques, l’École française d’Athènes s’associe à trois autres établissements publics grecs d’enseignement supérieur et de recherche pour créer graduellement HESTIA, un Institut d’Etudes Avancées pour la recherche sur la Grèce, les Balkans et la Méditerranée. En conjoignant leurs forces dans un projet commun, l’EFA, la Fondation nationale de la Recherche Hellénique, l’Université Nationale et Capodistrienne d’Athènes et l’Université des sciences sociales et politiques Panteion entendent conforter un partenariat de longue date et favoriser le développement de compétences de haut niveau dans la recherche en Sciences humaines et sociales, toutes époques confondues.

With a strong team of scientific members and research support services, the EFA is a great place for scholars to spend time. Each year, we welcome many researchers and academics for stays of varying lengths through specific fellowship programs.
The EFA also welcomes students, especially doctoral students, who may receive fellowships and attend specialized seminars.
Together with the scientific members of the École française d’Athènes, the doctoral, post-doctoral and senior fellows form an international research community that benefits from the EFA’s network of partners in Greece, the Balkans, and the Eastern Mediterranean. The EFA supports international research projects that focus on excellence and advancing knowledge in these fields.
To strengthen this research dynamic, the École française d’Athènes is teaming up with three other Greek institutions to gradually establish HESTIA, an Institute for Advanced Studies focusing on Greece, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean. The EFA, the National Hellenic Research Foundation, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences are building on a long-standing partnership to encourage the development of advanced research skills in the humanities and social sciences spanning all periods.
