Job offer – Analyst of Historical Sources

An Analyst of Historical Sources position is available at the École française d’Athènes within the framework of the PSOMI project, an international research initiative funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR).

The PSOMI Project brings together historians, socio-anthropologists, and visual studies experts to study the impact of the First World War on food systems and identities, with a focus on food insecurity. It examines how food played a significant role during the war, particularly in the defeat of the Central Powers. The project focuses on the Entente countries (France, Italy, Belgium, and Greece) from 1913-1923, exploring food consumption on the home front and its transformation in retail, supply, and economic conditions during the war. It looks at the evolving dynamics of food practices, gender, identities, and social ties, and investigates how tastes changed due to restrictions and exposure to other food cultures. Through a comparative approach, the project assesses the extent of food insecurity and the transformation of the food retail sector in both local and broader contexts.

The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting archival research, collecting oral testimonies, and producing scholarly content. In addition to these research activities, the Analyst will provide administrative support, manage project communication, and oversee digital content across various platforms.
