With the launch of the Bulletin de correspondance hellénique in 1877, the École française d’Athènes (EFA) established itself as a leading institution for the study of Greece and the Greek world, from antiquity to the present day. Its catalogue now comprises nearly 1,000 titles spanning archaeology, history, epigraphy, geography, sociology and related disciplines. Its geographical scope has also expanded beyond Greece to include the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean and even Afghanistan.
Each year, the catalogue is enriched by around twenty new books, three journals and three co-published journals. Although initially intended for a scholarly audience, over the past decade these publications (available in print and digital formats) have attracted a broader readership with a keen interest in the history of the Mediterranean world.
EFA Publications are distinguished by their ability to respond to emerging research challenges. Through close collaboration with leading institutions and internationally recognised scholars, they contribute actively to the dissemination of knowledge while developing new editorial formats for an increasingly diverse readership.
The Éditions of the École française d’Athènes thus play a leading part in enhancing knowledge of and research into Greece, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.
